Gabriela Pedroza President UPLIFT Board of Directors

Gabriela Pedroza was elected as President of the UPLIFT Board of Directors at our annual election meeting last month. She is the mother of four adult children and three grandchildren. Gabriela came to UPLIFT as a client nine years ago.

She says, "I felt hopeless and did not know who to turn to for help. I am eternally grateful, not only to the person who recommended UPLIFT but also to the amazing staff who stepped in and walked me through the process of finding support for my family.

Fast forward 9 years later, I have had the privilege of being a part of the Uplift board for several years. Having recently been elected President, I vow to continue the good fight for families that are in need of representation and a voice. It is my honor to continue to be a part of such a fantastic group of warriors at Uplift!"

We are uplift.

Uplift is a statewide non-profit organization offering advocacy and support for families of children with complex behavioral health challenges and other special health care needs. Utilizing a team-building and peer support model, we help guide families toward hope and positive change. Families lead through a process that allows them to embrace their own strengths, find their voice, and lean on others who have lived through similar experiences.

I became involved with Uplift about 17 yrs ago or more. I wasn't sure what to expect but after many years of issues at school and trying to decide meds or no meds I decided to become a part of Uplift. Looking back it was the best decision I had made, not just for me, but more importantly for my son and learning to deal with his challenging behavior in a positive way as well as teaching everyone around him. I also used what I learned in my job setting and referred parents to Uplift! I'm happy to say my son is 26 yrs old and has had 2 jobs since graduating and is a very productive citizen!
